Tannin and its applications: Rust Converter

Tanino sendo aplicado em cima de uma placa com ferrugem

Continuing our series, today we will talk about rust converter.

Rust is the result of iron oxidation, which, when in contact with the oxygen present in water and air, oxidizes, and from this reaction rust appears, which deteriorates the original material little by little. It is a great villain, and can cause huge financial losses, and in some extreme conditions, even human and environmental accidents.

To prevent machines, tools, and other iron-containing objects from decomposing due to oxidation, it is very important that proper maintenance is carried out. The rust converter is a great ally in this challenge, being ideal for eliminating rust and preparing surfaces for painting.

And how do tannins help in this challenge?

Tannins, due to their antioxidant properties, are widely used in the composition of rust converters for their action on iron oxide, the main rust component, forming a film that prevents corrosion, in addition to facilitating the application of paints and varnishes.
